Meet OSEA Malibu

This brand, y’all. First of all, OSEA has one of my FAVE cleansers of all time; the OSEA Ocean Cleanser. This milky cleanser is so effective and gentle on the skin plus it has an incredible lime Skittles scent (like really fresh and light). And it’s absolutely perfect for a second cleanse. (Someone is taking this home!!!)

But I’m getting ahead of myself. One of the things that really makes OSEA stand out is how long the brand has been around. It’s one of the original better beauty lines, having been launched in 1996 after a decade of formulation. It was founded (and is maintained) by a California-based family with longstanding ties to healing, wellness, and incredible ingredients.

Healing via the ocean was inspired by the family’s great grandmother who recovered from paralysis in just three weeks by taking up swimming in the ocean in the middle of December. She attributed her recovery to the full spectrum of minerals and trace elements present in the salt water and abundance of seaweed. 

In this vein, OSEA draws inspiration from the sun, earth, atmosphere and harnesses the power of the ocean via sea minerals, vitamins and USDA certified organic seaweed. Their organic seaweed is harvested by hand in Patagonia and included in nearly EVERY one of their formulations.

“Seaweed, our star ingredient,” OSEA says, “it contains powerful bioavailable minerals and nutrients that are readily absorbed and utilized to transform, nourish and rejuvenate skin cells.”

We love that OSEA is committed to better beauty through and through. Besides creating responsible products, in 2002, OSEA became the first company to sign The Compact for Global Production of Safe Health and Beauty Products, and initiative from the Environmental Working Group, and founder Jenefer and Melissa Palmer were actively involved in campaigning to continue to lobby for safe skincare.

And as icing on the cake, all of OSEA’s products are gluten-free, cruelty-free and vegan (both PETA vegan certified and Leaping Bunny cruelty-free certified) too!
